Welcome! I’m David, founder of Ninth Fishing.
I grew up in Northland, where weekends were often spent out on the water with family and mates.
Some of my best memories are of early mornings in Bream Bay – glassy conditions, the smell of salt in the air,
and the anticipation of what might take the line next. It’s a place that shaped not only my love of fishing,
but also my respect for the sea and the community that surrounds it.
Over the years, softbaiting became my obsession. There’s something about feeling that first tap,
working the lure just right, and watching a fish commit that still gives me a buzz every time.
But like many Kiwi fishos, I started to notice that the gear I wanted wasn’t always available –
especially when it came to jigheads.
So I did what most tinkerers do: I started making my own. At first it was just a hobby –
a way to fine-tune my setup and get the most out of every trip. Then mates started asking for a few.
Then their mates wanted some. Before long, what began on the workbench turned into Ninth Fishing –
a small, homegrown business built on the same passion that got me hooked all those years ago.
At Ninth Fishing, we’re not trying to be the biggest. We’re here for the everyday fisho who loves chasing snapper
after work, launching before dawn on the weekend, or just enjoying time on the water with good people.
Our jigheads are made with the kind of care that only comes from someone who fishes them himself –
because if I wouldn’t tie it on, I wouldn’t sell it.
Fishing in New Zealand is about more than just filling the chilly bin.
It’s about tradition, connection, and the simple joy of being out there.
Ninth Fishing is my way of sharing that passion with you – from one Kiwi angler to another.

Every jighead is poured, cleaned, painted and has the 3D holographic eyes adhered by hand right here in New Zealand. We are invested in creating premium quality, market leading products for Kiwis to enjoy.
We are passionate fishermen and have been fishing NZ waters regularly for 25+ years. Although we enjoy a good stray lining session with bait and burley, we love softbaiting and the excitement it provides (and the added bonus of an easier clean-up!).
We set out with one goal. To create a Jig Head that will attract more bites from larger Snapper, Kingfish, Trevally, Kahawai, among other species.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you by sending an email to info@ninth.co.nz . Please quote your name and address. We would be grateful if you could also provide brief details of what information you want a copy of (this helps us to more readily locate your data).
We will not be able to provide your personal information if we do not know or don’t have reasonable grounds to believe it is personal information about you or if disclosing the information would involve the unwarranted disclosure of the affairs of another individual.
You can request correction or amendment of the information held by us at any time and as often as necessary by sending us an email to info@ninth.co.nz and specifying the information you require changed. If it is reasonable in the circumstances for us to do so, we will make the requested change or correction, otherwise we’ll take reasonable steps to mark that information as having been subject to a change or correction request.
We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. By participating in the competition you are agreeing to these competition terms and conditions. The competition is being run by Ninth Fishing.
The competition is open to entrants over 18 years of age, currently living in New Zealand. Ninth Fishing employees and associates are excluded from the draw.
By entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and that you are eligible to receive any prizes that may be awarded to you.
There is a limit of one entry per person and the competition is completely free to enter.
Entries close at 12pm, Thursday 30th November, 2023.
The winning prize will be 1x pack of Nebula Jig Heads in an available size and colour of the winners choice. Ninth Fishing will provide a list of available options to the contestant via email.
The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable, and no cash alternatives will be provided.
We reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond our control require doing so.
Ninth Fishing‘s decision on any aspect of the competition is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
The winner will be chosen at random and notified via the email address provided on 30th November 2023.
Ninth Fishing will make two attempts to contact the winner via email.
If the winner does not respond to the emails informing them of their win within 14 days of the second email, they forfeit their right to the prize, and Ninth Fishing reserves the right to select and notify a new winner.
The winner will provide their delivery address via email and allow 14 days for the prize to be delivered.
By entering the competition you agree to receive communications via email, including news, tips and marketing material. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ on the footer of the email.
You agree that any personal information that you provide when entering the competition will be used by Ninth Fishing for the purposes of administering the competition and for the other purposes as specified in our Privacy Policy.

If requested by Ninth Fishing, the winner agrees to release their first name for the purpose of announcing the winner on the website, or any other platform.
